Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a broad-based movement in business that encourages companies to take responsibility for the impact their activities have on consumers, employees, communities and the environment.
Our policy statement is to mitigate activities that adversely affect the environment, by acting in a socially and environmentally responsible manner and adhering to the principles of reduce, reuse and recycle. Our family of consumers expect we not only design and distribute product that are of the highest standards of quality and safety, but we do so in an eco-friendly and sustainable manner.
Our commitment is focused in areas where we can have the most opportunity to make a difference:
Through Maclaren sponsored recycling centres for used buggies, a mandate that all packaging contain 70% recycled fibre content with a goal of 100% within 3 years, and products made with renewable resources. Our belief is we can reuse, recycle or rethink the end-of-life use for many of our materials that would previously be sent to a landfill.
Plans are afoot to leverage new technology to maximize energy efficiency including the installation of energy efficient lighting and a ‘turn off the lights’ policy when natural light is adequate.
A core tenet of our CSR movement is environmentally responsible manufacturing through the use of recyclable materials and the restriction of chemical compounds or materials that harm the environment. All phthalates and lead have been eliminated as well as PVC and brominated flame retardants (BFRs).
Product and Packaging Design
We seek to design products that have long lifecycles. Design and sourcing goals have always included making high quality products which can be used generation to generation. New product introductions are focused on environmentally sensitive materials and ingredients.
Minimizing Our Carbon Footprint
Our goal is to become “carbon-neutral’ and we have taken the first steps towards achieving this by identifying our primary footprint is indirect emissions and are establishing plans to work globally with a preferred development partner to offset these emissions.
