Environmental Responsibility Maclaren’s perpetual passion to provide safe, innovative transport to the planet’s youngest citizens is based upon a foundation of acting socially and environmentally responsible so the children of today can thrive in the world of tomorrow.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a broad-based movement in business that encourages companies to take responsibility for the impact their activities have on consumers, employees, communities and the environment.
Our policy statement is to mitigate activities that adversely affect the environment, by acting in a socially and environmentally responsible manner and adhering to the principles of reduce, reuse and recycle. Our family of consumers expect we not only design and distribute product that are of the highest standards of quality and safety, but we do so in an eco-friendly and sustainable manner.
Our commitment is focused in areas where we can have the most opportunity to make a difference:
Waste Reduction
Through Maclaren sponsored recycling centres for used buggies, a mandate that all packaging contain 70% recycled fibre content with a goal of 100% within 3 years, and products made with renewable resources. Our belief is we can reuse, recycle or rethink the end-of-life use for many of our materials that would previously be sent to a landfill.
Energy Efficiency
Plans are afoot to leverage new technology to maximize energy efficiency including the installation of energy efficient lighting and a ‘turn off the lights’ policy when natural light is adequate.
Responsible Manufacturing
A core tenet of our CSR movement is environmentally responsible manufacturing through the use of recyclable materials and the restriction of chemical compounds or materials that harm the environment. All phthalates and lead have been eliminated as well as PVC and brominated flame retardants (BFRs).
Product and Packaging Design
We seek to design products that have long lifecycles. Design and sourcing goals have always included making high quality products which can be used generation to generation. New product introductions are focused on environmentally sensitive materials and ingredients.
Minimizing Our Carbon Footprint
Our goal is to become “carbon-neutral’ and we have taken the first steps towards achieving this by identifying our primary footprint is indirect emissions and are establishing plans to work globally with a preferred development partner to offset these emissions.
Maclaren’s history of forward thinking, a legacy built upon making innovative multi-generational products designed to last, and dedication to improve upon our high standards of quality and safety will in enable us to build momentum towards a high impact eco-friendly, environmentally sustainable brand. The Maclaren Statement of No Compromise Safety- All Maclaren products are built to, and often exceed, all relevant British and US standards. We carefully monitor our products on an ongoing basis and we ensure consistency of manufacture through.

Why Maclaren is the Safest For 40 years Maclaren have been designing and building a range of buggies with just two things in mind. You and your baby. As parents ourselves, we know from experience that everything we produce has to be practical and convenient for you, and safe and comfortable for your child. Nothing carries the Maclaren name unless it reaches those standards. Nothing carries the Maclaren name until it has been researched, tried then tested. Not just by engineers. But by parents and their children. When Maclaren say “What a mother wants, what a baby needs.” It isn’t just a slogan. It’s a commitment to excellence. And when you buy something for your baby, excellence is the least you expect.

Manufacturer Details
Maclaren
Maclaren, a renowned premium parenting brand of the world’s first umbrella-fold baby buggy, continues to empower parents with safe, stylish and innovative products. Since the first iconic design, patented in 1965, the company has focused on versatile mobility and above-industry safety standards combined with modern flexibility.
Now in over 50 countries, Maclaren continues to innovate by providing families with high-quality, stylish goods in premium transport products, accessories, soft goods, nursery furniture, and organic personal care products for mother and baby. Known for their durability and high-quality construction, Maclaren Buggys are backed by world-class engineering and the industry’s first Sovereign Lifetime Warranty™.
It all began in 1965 when Owen Maclaren designed and patented his prototype Baby Buggy -- the B-01. The iconic blue and white stripes and aluminium frame imparts a vintage style that is popular and modern today. The revolutionary lightweight, 3D fold design continues to be an important and timeless prototype for the industry.
A former test pilot and aeronautical designer Owen Maclaren, created the iconic B01 buggy in the converted stables of his restored medieval farmhouse, Arnold House, in the village of Barby, Northamptonshire in England in 1967.
Based on Maclaren's knowledge as a retired aeronautical engineer and grandfather, the buggy had to be durable, safe, and lightweight. With a combination of modern materials like tubular aluminium, a durable structure that comfortably carries even a fairly large child, and 3D folding mechanism, the buggy weighed just 3kg/6lbs and fit into the same amount of space as an umbrella. The revolutionary design liberated parents from the bulky pram and quickly became an object of design and desire.
Today’s Maclaren Buggys are descendants of the B-01 – from the lightweight frame, durable fabric, and one-hand fold -- to the above-industry standard safety features and innovative style.
