About Beaba Bean from Owner Lisa Malcic: In 2002, after the birth of my second child, Alex, it was obvious that no products existed to specifically aid in the prevention of accidental wee-wee on me or my husband Peter! Our first reaction was “there has to be a something that can help?!” And so, the Pee-pee Teepee™ was born! Soon after, using my clothing design background, I sewed up the first 100 Pee-pee Teepees™ and we participated in our first gift show, where 18 retailers started carrying the product. In just over 6 years, Beba Bean is now carried in over 2000 retail outlets across North America, Europe, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. With the success of the Pee-pee Teepee, I started designing more products with the philosophy— adorable meets practical. We took ‘Beba’ from Peter’s European background and added ‘Bean’ (to represent a newborn in the womb) to form Beba Bean. The line now includes bamboo layette, knitwear, blankets, socx, shoes and toys. We continue our dedication to create innovative products that babies love and parents can’t live without. As always, my family is the center of my world. They inspire the fun and whimsy in all that I design. I feel lucky to do what I love all day and thank all our very loyal retailers who continue to share our vision with their customers and our new found retail customers who are discovering the joy of having a baby in their life everyday. In addtion, Beba Bean is grateful to be associated and actively involved with the 'Basics for Babies' charity. The Basics for Babies program, founded and operated by JRFM in support of the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society, assists families coping with the challenges of raising a young infant by providing them with needed food, formula, and diapers. The program receives the generous support of the JRFM Basics for Babies campaign.
